It is set in Japan’s Taishō era, where humanity covertly exists and combats the menace of demons, aka individuals who have transformed into supernatural beings with abilities like heightened strength, rapid healing and powers like ‘Blood Demon Arts’. The story begins with Tanjiro Kamado, who aspires to become a Demon Slayer after his family is massacred and his younger sister Nezuko turns into a demon.

Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train is set after the events of the first season of Demon Slayer, where Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, along with Nezuko Kamado, journey on the Infinity Train to aid Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku in eradicating Enmu, the Lower Rank One who has snuck onto the train, all while protecting the 200 passengers on board.
The movie achieved critical acclaim and financial success, earning more than USD 507 million globally and becoming the highest-grossing film of 2020. This milestone marked the first instance of a non-American film leading the annual worldwide box office rankings, breaking several box-office records. It also surpassed Spirited Away (2001) to become the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time.
Demon Slayer season 2 (Mugen Train & Entertainment District Arc)

Demon Slayer season 2 is divided into two arcs, namely the Mugen Train arc and the Entertainment District arc, and adapts the 7th through 11th volumes (chapters 54–97) of the manga series.
The Mugen Train arc is an elongated version of the 2020 film, presenting all of the movie’s material in episodic form along with fresh content specifically created for the television anime airing.
