Costco has both coconut oil and coconut flour. My Daisy is allergic to chicken, beef, wheat, milk, soy and yeast so I HAVE to make her treats. The ones I currently make are a combination of brown rice, coconut and almond flour, coconut oil, eggs, turkey broth and flax seed meal for the omegas. I'm definitely going to have to try these

my local grocery store has a small section of gluten free products, the coconut oil should be with the oils. I put a teaspoon of oil in my girls food everyday very good for them and they love it.I think I might have heard it keeps fleas and ticks away. my bassets have not had any in over a year. a lot better than the poison in frontline, etc.

My babies never have fleas as long as I put coconut oil on them .I refused to ever put that poison o. Them .They never got fleas.Fleas hate coconut oil.Frontline is bad.I put it on my Boston terrier and she was foaming at the mouth.

Elsie, you should be able to find Coconut Flour at your favorite grocery store. If it is not with "baking goods", ie., flour, sugar, baking soda, etc., then check the "organic" section, if your store has one. You really should be able to find Coconut Flour, and even Rice Flour, which would also work with any recipe.

Pumpkin Puurfection

•One 15 oz. can mashed pure pumpkin (NOT the spiced pie filling)
•3/4 cup cream of wheat (or rice cereal if wheat-sensitive) or ¾ cups rolled oats
•1/2 cup dry powdered milk
You can mix the cream of wheat dry; no need to cook it first.
Bake at 300 degrees F for 15-20 minutes.
Hope your GSD enjoys these simple cookies

You are awesome, thanks! He has 22 allergies in all. We picked him up from a very good breeder at six weeks. My fault, I didn’t want to wait. I think if I had known better of the new thoughts on waiting until eight weeks he would not have this problem. An extra two weeks nursing with his family may have made all the difference.

I see a lot of comments about wether the treats can be left out in a dog cookie jar or need to be refrigerated. What is the best storage method so they don't go bad, and do they need to be consumed in a short period of time before they spoil or are they like people cookies that will last a week or two?

I stored a few of them in the fridge and threw the rest into the freezer. Athena enjoys them frozen too - it keeps things interesting plus it's soothing for her gums since she's still teething.

To those who have been asking about the storage time....I've kept mine in a cookie jar, but they will go bad quickly (no preservatives-remember). I usually keep about a week's worth in his jar and the rest in the freezer (although mine eats his straight from the freezer with no problem either). I've only had one batch that went moldy on me after 2 weeks, but that was my fault-I made a double batch and didn't freeze ANY of them....Lesson learned. My boy LOVES LOVES LOVES all these treats...

I use 2 jars of baby food (4oz) with one cup oats, one cup whole wheat flour (or your flour of choice) about two heaping tablespoons flax seed meal, about 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional) mix together, roll out and use dog bone cookie cutter. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Turn oven off. Leave cookies in oven until oven completely cools or overnight. Store in paper bag. In place of baby food you can use a half can of pumpkin. I use sweet potatoes, applesauce, pears, peaches, carrots, squash, etc of baby food. My Lab loves these. He is not fond of peanut butter.

Hi-- I have tried a few of the recipes on this site and my batter always comes out very runny... I follow the directions and measurements, except I cut out one egg on this recipe to see if it would help. I have tried refrigerating it to see if I would be able to roll it to make shapes but so far I can only do drop cookies of very runny dough... Any suggestions?

Reply

Denise

5/17/2015 06:08:25 am

Heather, I just learned that coconut flour normally soaks up more moisture than other flours, so it's weird that yours is coming out runny. I would think you could just add more flour until you get the right consistancy ... that's what I always do if roll out dough is too sticky, or not a good consistancy for rolling.

Hi Denise,
My also came out runny, so I add a little extra coconut flour, but still was runny :( don't know why?

Denise

9/17/2015 04:14:40 pm

Wennie, I posted a rely under your other comment. Just keep adding a small amount of flour at a time under you get a consistency you can roll out. I think if using very ripe bananas, you migt be able to reduce the amount of water.

Lynn, I just made them for the firt time toay. I noticed the dough was a little sticky, so just added a little more coconut flour. Also rolled out on a floured, marble rolling board with a floured marble rolling pin. I did have to flour the cookie cutter, as well as clean it off due to dough sticking to it.

Wennie, I think even something like the size and ripeness of your bananas could make a difference. I just kept adding flour (a small amount at a time) until the dough is a consitency that can be rolled. Another option would be to add less water.

I just want to say Thank You to everyone who supported me through the years. My name is Manuel Franco, New Berlin, Wisconsin. My story of how I won the Powerball lottery of $768.4M is a bit of a tale. I have been playing Powerball tickets for 6 years now since I turned 18. I bought my first ticket on my 18 birthday. I was feeling very lucky that day because I had contacted Dr. Odunga Michael to help me with the winning Powerball numbers. I really had that great great feeling that I looked at the camera wanting to wink at it. I only did a tiny part of it and trusted him. He gave me the numbers after I played a couple other tickets along with it for $10. I checked my ticket after the winnings came online and saw the numbers were correct including the Power play. I screamed for about 10 minutes because it felt like a dream. I had won $768.4M. You can check my winning testimony with the lottery officials just with my name search. Thank you Dr Odunga.
